Photographed in Rotterdam The Missing presented the city in fragments, representing those who slip from society and remain hidden. Where do they disappear and how can photography represent them when they are absent? They exist in a non-place, out of sight, living in those parts of the city that are invisible to most of us, occupying a no-mans land, those unconsidered peripheral spaces, beneath motorways, in service shafts, hostels, abandoned buildings, squats ≠ these photographs present a picture of this world, another city and in doing so present an image of the missing.
